The Alarm Shell is made of PC. What are the advantages of PC plastic in manufacturing warning light housing?

PC (polycarbonate) plastic has significant advantages in manufacturing Alarm Shell. The light transmittance of PC material can reach more than 89%, which is similar to glass, and can restore the color and brightness of the warning light to the greatest extent. This is important for warning lights because their core function is to transmit warning signals through light. High transparency ensures that the light is evenly diffused and improves the warning effect, especially in low light conditions (such as at night or in smoky environments).
The impact resistance of PC plastic is 250 times that of ordinary glass, far exceeding materials such as ABS or PMMA. Warning lights may be damaged by accidental collisions, falls or external impacts. PC housings can effectively resist such risks, extend product life and reduce maintenance costs. For example, in industrial or outdoor scenes, equipment may be hit by tools, stones and other objects. PC material can prevent the shell from breaking and exposing internal components.
The heat deformation temperature (HDT) of PC can reach more than 135°C, and the performance remains stable in the range of -40°C to 130°C. This allows the warning light housing to adapt to extreme temperature environments, such as high-temperature workshops, cold storage or outdoor exposure scenes. In addition, PC has good UV resistance (after adding UV stabilizers), and is not easy to yellow and age under long-term exposure, maintaining the transparency and warning effect of the housing.
PC molding shrinkage is low (about 0.5%-0.7%), ensuring that the injection-molded warning light housing is accurate in size and highly matched with internal electronic components (such as LED light boards and sensors). At the same time, PC is a flame-retardant material (UL 94 V-2 grade), self-extinguishing when away from fire, and meets fire and safety certification requirements (such as CE, UL), reducing fire risks, and is suitable for use in industrial or public scenes.
PC plastic has good fluidity, is suitable for injection molding of complex shapes, and supports thin-wall design (such as uniform filling under cold runner systems). This allows the warning light housing to integrate functional structures such as buckles and threaded holes, simplifying the assembly process. At the same time, PC is easy to color, and warning colors such as red, yellow, and blue can be achieved by adding masterbatches to meet the needs of different scenarios.
PC materials are recyclable and in line with environmental protection trends. For warning light systems that need to be deployed on a large scale (such as traffic and construction sites), the use of PC casings can help reduce long-term environmental burden.
